Ruin on Border : Prasat Ta Khwai : 06Jan2007

I knew this ruin by the site "Sundial, calendar & Khmer temples" of Mr.Asger Mollerup.

This Ruin is 11.5km far from Prasat Ta Muan Thom.
And the locatoon of this ruin is on the border between Gombodia and Thai.
It's still not clear which country this belongs to.
And there might be a lot of land mines near here.

Firstly I left for the base No.2602 of the border army.
The road from R224 to there was too bad.
The under body of my car contacted to the ground.

When I arrived at the base No,2602 of the border army,
I asked the army leader to lead me to Prasat Ta Khwai.
(The army in here could not speak English.)

And next we went to the second base in the jungle by the motorbike through rubber plantation, over the reservior and across the small river.
This second base didn't have any supply of the electricity.
And it fenced the stockade made with woody spears, and there were a lot of the isolated bases.
Pigs were fed for the provisions, maybe.

And then we walked to Prast Ta Khwai together with soldiers with a rifle through the path in jungle.

The soldiers walked fast. I could follow them scarcely.

If it's rainy season, nobody could go there.
And even if in dry seaon, there might be the risk of poisonous snakes, malarian mosquitos in jungle.

But when I arrived at this ruin and find this, I was stirred.

Inside of the main tower, there was a "Linga" of natural rock.

There were a lot of black grains.
These are droppings of bats.

I looked up into the roof of the main tower.

Before the relief was carved, the time stopped.

From west side of the main tower.

South slope of the mountain.
There were a big rock with several holes.
These holes might be used for the pillars of the woody building.

A soldier is taking a rest by putting the rifle on the rock.

This ruin was in tropical forest.

When you go to the second base, you need to cross this woody bridge over the small river.

From the bank of this reservoir I looked back toward the mountain of Prasat Ta Khwai.

On the way that I returned back to the base No,2602, a tire of our motorbike went flat.

When we visit this border area, we should be careful to study whether we go or not, because the relation between Thai and Gombodia is not so good as of about Jun-2010, sometimes the news of the conflict happen.
